Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get it deleted, in plain English.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to find auditions for you and track them.
- We don't sell your information, show you ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
- Your resume, headshots and video links are stored privately. Only you can open them, unless you choose to share one by link.
- If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your name, email address and, if you have one, your profile picture.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from the app, whenever you want.
1. Who we are
MyDanceDates is operated by Lucky Dog Brands LLC, New York, NY (“MyDanceDates”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers the MyDanceDates app at mydancedates.com, our mobile apps, this website, and the emails we send. It applies to anyone who uses them (“you”).
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account or sign in, we receive your name, email address and, if your sign-in provider shares one, your profile picture. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with your email address. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. We never see or store your Apple or Google password.
Information you add
- Your profile: the name you want on your applications, your home city and how far you'll travel, other cities you audition in, and the dance styles you're interested in.
- Your sources: the audition boards and company websites you choose to follow.
- Your tracker: what you decided about each audition (Interested, Maybe, Not for me), its status (for example Applied, Callback or Hired), the date of each change, any notes you write, and what you've archived.
- Your materials: files you upload, such as your resume and headshots, and links you save, such as private video links. If you share a file by link, we also keep that link and when you shared it.
- Your templates: the email templates you write for submissions.
- Your calendar settings: what you want on your calendar, plus the private link your calendar uses to subscribe.
Information collected automatically
Like most online services, our servers and network provider record basic technical information when you use MyDanceDates: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages and features you request, and when you requested them. We also record when you last used the app and when your calendar app last checked your calendar feed, so we can tell whether things are working for you. We use this information to keep the service running, fix problems, and protect against abuse. The app also saves a few settings on your own device, such as your text size and whether you've dismissed a tip. Our mobile app keeps your sign-in in your phone's secure storage.
Permissions in our mobile app
The mobile app asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can turn any of them off in your phone's settings.
- Calendar: used only when you tap Add to calendar, to add that audition to your phone's calendar. On iPhone the app asks for add-only access, so it can't see what's already on your calendar. Android has no add-only option, so the app asks for calendar access there, but it uses it only to find a calendar to add to. It never reads your events.
- Photos and files: used only when you pick a headshot, photo or document to upload as a material. The app gets just the items you pick. It doesn't ask for your camera or microphone.
- Email: when you send a submission, the app opens your phone's own mail app with the message and your chosen files attached. You review it and send it yourself. We don't see your email.
Public audition information
MyDanceDates reads audition listings that companies and choreographers have posted publicly, and saves facts like the company, date, place, pay and how to apply. Those listings can include contact details the organizer chose to publish. That information is about auditions, not about you. If you posted a listing and want something about it corrected or removed, email us.
What we don't collect
We don't access your location, contacts, camera or microphone, and we see only the photos and files you choose to upload. We don't read your email or your calendar events, and we don't access your Google Calendar or any other Google service. Your calendar either subscribes to a feed from us, or, in our mobile app, gets the events you choose to add. We don't collect payment information, because MyDanceDates is currently free.
3. How we use your information
- To run MyDanceDates: show you auditions from your sources, keep your tracker, store your materials, and publish your calendar feed.
- To send you emails about your account and the service. If you turn on reminders or digests, we'll also send those, and every one includes a way to turn them off.
- To answer you when you contact support.
- To keep MyDanceDates secure and stop abuse, fraud and misuse.
- To fix and improve the service, for example by measuring how accurately we read public listings.
- To comply with the law.
We use automated tools, including an AI service, to read public audition listings and flyers. We don't send your materials, your tracker or your profile to AI services, and we don't use any of it to train AI models.
4. Signing in with Google
If you choose Sign in with Google, we ask Google only for your basic profile: your name, email address and profile picture, plus the standard OpenID sign-in permission. We use that information only to create your MyDanceDates account, sign you in, and contact you about your account. We don't ask for, and can't get, access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts, Google Calendar or any other Google data.
We don't sell information we receive from Google, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers listed in section 6 who help us run MyDanceDates. Authorized MyDanceDates staff can see your name and email in our support tools, as described in section 6, only to run, support and secure the service.
MyDanceDates' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect MyDanceDates from your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.
5. Signing in with Apple
If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple shares your name and an email address with us. If you choose Hide My Email, we receive an address that forwards to your real one, and we never see your real address. We use this information only to create your account, sign you in, and contact you about your account. You can stop using Sign in with Apple with MyDanceDates in your Apple Account settings, under Sign in with Apple.
6. Who we share information with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We share it only in these cases:
- Service providers that run parts of MyDanceDates for us, only for that purpose, and under contracts that limit what they can do with it:
- Clerk, for sign-in and account security
- Railway, which hosts our app servers and database
- Cloudflare, for networking, security, and storing files (including your materials, in storage that's kept separate from public files)
- Resend, for sending email
- Google Workspace, for our support email
- Anthropic, whose AI reads public audition listings and flyers. It never receives your personal information.
- Our staff. A small number of authorized people at MyDanceDates use an internal console to give support, fix problems and keep the service secure. It shows your name, email and profile, the sources you follow, the auditions you're tracking and their status history, your calendar settings, and how many materials and templates you have. It doesn't show the contents of your files or templates. Staff may add internal support notes to your account, and every staff action that changes an account is logged.
- When you choose to share. When you send a submission email, the app hands it to your own email app, and you send it. If you share a file by link, anyone who has that link can open the file until you stop sharing it. Anyone you give your calendar link to can see what's in that feed.
- Legal reasons: when the law requires it, or when we need to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public, or MyDanceDates.
- Business transfers: if MyDanceDates is merged, sold or reorganized, this policy will continue to protect your information, and we'll notify you before it falls under a different policy.
7. Cookies and similar technology
The app uses only essential cookies, the ones that keep you signed in and secure, plus the device settings described in section 2. We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics. This website sets no cookies. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
8. How long we keep information
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account in the app, your profile, tracker, materials (including the files themselves), templates, sources and calendar link are deleted right away, and your sign-in is removed. If you ask us by email instead, we do the same within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire on their regular schedule. Deleting your account can't reach copies that are already outside MyDanceDates, such as emails you've sent or events already added to your calendar. Server logs are kept only briefly, for security and troubleshooting. Public audition listings aren't tied to your account, so they stay in the shared catalog. Our staff audit log keeps a short record that your account was deleted, including the email address, the date, and the IP address the request came from, so we can show the deletion was carried out.
9. Your choices and rights
- See and change your information in the app. For anything you can't change there, email us and we'll do it for you.
- Delete things like materials, templates and sources one at a time in the app.
- Delete your account and everything in it in the app: go to Account, tap Delete my account, and type delete to confirm. It takes effect right away and signs you out. If you can't get into the app, email support@mydancedates.com from the address on your account and we'll do it for you.
- Get a copy of your information by emailing us.
- Stop emails using the unsubscribe link in any non-essential email.
Depending on where you live (for example, California, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights, such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority. We honor these requests wherever you live. We'll respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for making one.
10. How we protect information
All connections to MyDanceDates are encrypted with HTTPS. Your uploaded materials are kept in separate private storage, and every request for one is checked against your account. Knowing a file's address alone is never enough to open it, and those files are never cached. A file you share gets its own long, random link that isn't cached or listed in search engines. Stop sharing in the app turns that link off for good, and sharing again creates a new one. Your calendar link is long and random. Treat it like a password, and if you think someone else has it, contact us and we'll replace it. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
11. Children and teens
MyDanceDates isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you're between 13 and 18, please use MyDanceDates with a parent or guardian's permission. If we find out we've collected information from a child under 13, we'll delete it. Parents can reach us at support@mydancedates.com.
12. Where information is processed
MyDanceDates is run from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use MyDanceDates from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to the U.S. and processed there.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we'll let you know by email or in the app before it takes effect.
